VITA Tax Preparation Services

(2 Minute Read) — One of our primary goals is to help improve the financial lives of our members. In partnership with CASH Oregon, we will be hosting the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program which offers free tax assistance to those who qualify.

Tax preparation services are available February 10 through April 14 on Tuesday’s 9:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m. by appointment only, at our Beaverton branch location. English and Spanish languages spoken.

This program is available to members and non-members. Tax assistance is also available for the prior tax year. We can help with Federal and Oregon tax returns only.

Eligibility

To be eligible, your household income must be less than $69,000 and you don’t have any of the following:

  • Rental property
  • Adjustments on education expenses (box 4 or 6 of your 1098-T)
  • Sale of cryptocurrency
  • Self-employment income with any of the following: Over $50,000 in expenses; A loss for the year, Employees, Depreciation of amortization, Business use of the home

What to bring

  • Please print and complete your VITA TY25 Intake and Interview Form (required)
  • Social Security card or ITIN for each person on your tax return (required)
  • Government picture ID for taxpayer and spouse if filing jointly, such as driver’s license or passport (required)
  • Completed Intact Sheet- Form 13614-C (available above)
  • Form W-2 (wages from a job)
  • All 1099 (other kinds of income)
  • Form SSA-1099 (Social Security Benefits)
  • Form 1098-T (education scholarships or grants)
  • From 1099-C (Cancellation of debt)
  • Form 1095-A (health insurance through healthcare.gov)

Optional Documents

*The IRS is phasing out issuing refunds by check and accepting payments via check. Please be sure to bring bank account and routing numbers to your appointment. Don’t have a bank account? Ask at your appointment for other resources, such as a Unitus membership!
