Message to Our Members – November 2024
(2 Minute Read) — This month, we have the privilege of honoring the rich traditions, resilience, and contributions of indigenous peoples during Native American Heritage Month. Oregon’s tribal communities have long been stewards of the land and keepers of invaluable cultural knowledge. Their history is deeply intertwined with our state’s identity, and their impact continues to shape the fabric of our society today. By recognizing and celebrating Native cultures, we honor not only the past, but also the ongoing legacy of strength, wisdom, and community that Native peoples bring to Oregon.
We believe in honoring the diverse cultures that make our community stronger. This month, we are proud to celebrate and support Native voices and heritage, standing alongside our members and community in paying tribute to the invaluable contributions of Native peoples.
At Unitus, we acknowledge our Business Center at Tigard stands on the traditional homelands of the Atfalati and Tualaty tribes of the Kalapuya. These were the first inhabitants of the Fanno Creek watershed. Our Business Center is home to five dedicated acres of Fanno Creek wetlands. As stewards of the land, we are working with the Wetlands Conservancy to preserve and protect the wetlands, its inhabitants, and the legacy of the Native peoples who once called it home.
As we head into the holiday season, we are reminded of the importance of community, gratitude, and giving. Whether you are planning family gatherings or preparing for year-end financial decisions, Unitus is here to support you. We are committed to ensuring that your financial well-being remains our top priority, providing resources to help you achieve your goals as you plan for a bright future.
Thank you for being part of the Unitus community. Together, we continue to build a more inclusive and connected future for all.
