Message to Our Members – July 2025
July 1, 2025

(2 Minute Read) — At Unitus, we believe financial education is one of the strongest tools to help members protect and safeguard their accounts. Fraudsters are becoming more brazen — and more convincing — launching sophisticated scams. As we monitor fraud ricks, we want to remind you of some simple steps you can take to protect yourself:
- Never click on links in unexpected texts or emails;
- Do not use a phone number that was provided in the text or email;
- Do not share your personal information with an unknown caller;
- Beware of caller ID – it can be spoofed;
- Contact us right away if you are unsure that a message is legitimate or suspect you’ve been scammed.
As a reminder, no one from Unitus will ever call, text, or email you asking you for your:
- Account number and routing number;
- Credit or debit card PIN;
- Digital banking username or password;
- FULL Social Security number;
- CVV2 code on the back of their credit or debit card;
- Verification codes from two-factor authentication.
It takes all of us working together to stay ahead of the latest scams; please share this important information with anyone in your life who may be susceptible to these fraud tactics.
