International Credit Union Day 2025

(2 Minute Read) —  We’re excited to celebrate International Credit Union (ICU) Day on Thursday, October 16, 2025! During this annual celebration, credit unions around the world join together to celebrate the spirit of the global credit union movement. We reflect upon the history of credit unions, promote their achievements, raise awareness, and celebrate our membership.

This year’s ICU Day theme is “Cooperation for a Prosperous World.” You can learn more about ICU Day through this video, or by stopping by a branch to join our celebration this week. We’ll have an interactive world map where members can celebrate their ancestry, fun giveaways, and of course, plenty of snacks!

“It has been one of the greatest privileges of my career to work alongside leaders from every corner of the globe to expand access to financial empowerment,” said Steven Stapp, President and CEO of Unitus Community Credit Union. “The credit union movement is truly a global force for good.”

Lake Oswego High School student Megan Welton and Lakeridge High School student Sophia Stapp created a video to highlight the importance of credit unions and the impact they have on young people just beginning their financial journeys.
