(3 Minute Read) — Each year, from September 15 through October 15, we recognize Hispanic Heritage Month by honoring the histories, cultures, traditions, and contributions of Hispanic and Latino communities. It is a time to celebrate the people, stories, and connections that enrich our region and strengthen the communities we are proud to serve.

Celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month Together

At Unitus Community Credit Union, our commitment to financial inclusion extends far beyond a single month. As a Juntos Avanzamos designated credit union, we are dedicated to helping Hispanic and Latino individuals and families access safe, affordable financial services, build financial confidence, and pursue their goals.

Juntos Avanzamos, which means “Together We Advance,” recognizes credit unions that demonstrate a meaningful commitment to serving and empowering Hispanic communities through trusted relationships, accessible services, and financial education.

This year, we were proud to bring together financial institutions and community partners for a Juntos Avanzamos roundtable focused on international remittances, immigration loans, and other important issues affecting Hispanic and Latino households. We also celebrated five years of partnership and progress through this designation.

That work is visible across our organization. We have bilingual employees in every branch, and 15 percent of our employees speak Spanish. Over the past five years, Unitus has funded nearly $37 million in ITIN loans, along with immigration loans designed to help members and families move forward with confidence.

We also recently launched Movi, our international remittance experience in our digital banking app to help members send money to loved ones abroad in a simple and convenient way.

Beyond products and services, we believe in showing up in community. Hispanic Heritage Month gives us another opportunity to celebrate culture, connection, and the shared values that bring people together.

Join Us at El Festival de Mariachi

Unitus is proud to host El Festival de Mariachi en Sunday, September 27, 2026, from 12:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at Hillsboro Ballpark. This free community celebration will feature live music, cultural performances, food vendors, and family-friendly activities, including performances from Mariachi México en la Piel, Ballet Folklórico «México en la Sangre», Mariachi Tradición, and more. We hope you will join us as we celebrate Hispanic culture through music, family, and community.

This month we’re also kicking off a new campaign to remind the community who we serve. At Unitus, we Put the U in Banking every day because banking should feel personal.
