All your payment cards stored in Microsoft Wallet are assigned a device account number. This number is used instead of your actual card number when you make a purchase with Microsoft Wallet, so that your payment information isn’t shared with the merchant.
If you ever need to make a return, you might have to provide the last 4 digits of your device account number. The device account number can be found by selecting the card in Microsoft Wallet and tapping to go to the about screen.
It depends on the merchant. In some cases you may need to sign a receipt or enter your ATM PIN – just as you would with your plastic Unitus Visa card. If asked to verify the last four digits of your card number when making a purchase, instead provide the last four digits of the device account number. The device account number can be found by selecting the card in Microsoft Wallet and tapping the “i” icon to go to the about screen.
Add your Unitus card to Microsoft Wallet in a few easy steps:
- Open the Microsoft Wallet app and touch the plus sign in the bottom right corner of your screen.
- Tap credit or debit card, and follow the instructions.
If your card successfully loads and activates, no further steps are required. If further verification is required, call the number that appears on the screen.

If the merchant asks you to swipe your card, you can credit the card you used to pay within the Microsoft Wallet app by selecting the same card and holding your device to the contactless payment terminal.

Open the Microsoft Wallet app. Tap to select the Unitus Visa card you want to use as your default card. Once selected, tap “Set as my tap to pay card.”
Certain transactions, including recent purchases may be available in the Card Details screen. To see the details screen open the Microsoft Wallet app and tap the card you would like to review.

Some stores might have the Microsoft Wallet logo on their card readers and point of sale terminals, but they might not be currently set up to accept contactless payments including Microsoft Wallet. For additional information, please visit the Microsoft Wallet site online.
If you make a Microsoft Wallet purchase with your card, the merchant may request authorization for an initial amount and send us the actual transaction amount later for payment. The initial authorized amount appears in your Microsoft Wallet transaction history, but the actual transaction amount is deducted from your account.
- This happens frequently in places where:
- You can add a tip (restaurants, salons)
- There can be a significant difference between the amount that’s authorized initially and the actual transaction amount (hotels, car rental agencies)
For most card purchases, we receive the payment request, including the actual transaction amount, within 3 business days of the transaction
