Unitus Total Rewards
At Unitus, we value people and culture. It’s a big part of what makes working at Unitus great! Our total rewards philosophy is designed to facilitate our mission, shared values and strategic goals and is managed as an investment in our people and culture. Focus areas include member service, financial and service goals directly linked to the strategy, teamwork, employee engagement, and alignment with the marketplace in which we compete for talent. Strong employee and organizational performance drives above-market compensation at Unitus. The following highlights some of the key benefit and compensation offerings at Unitus.*
Health Care Benefits
Maintaining wellness and work/life balance is an important part of the Unitus culture. Our health care benefits are a reflection of this commitment. Unitus pays 100% of the individual employee’s monthly premium for dental and vision insurance and 95% of the premium for employee medical insurance. Unitus subsidizes a significant portion of dependent premiums. Our employees are amazed by extremely low out of pocket costs. Health care benefits include medical, dental, vision, life, and flexible spending accounts.
Unitus offers an Employee Assistance Program (EAP) to aid employees and their dependents in resolving personal challenges when they arise. This program offers a range of confidential counseling services with Masters credentialed
professionals at no cost to the employee.
401k Retirement Plan
As a financial institution, we devote a considerable portion of our benefits budget to assisting employees in planning for a secure retirement. Employees are eligible for the 401k plan the first of the month after 90 days of employment and Unitus matches 100% of the employee’s contribution up to 4% with immediate vesting. On the first of the month following 12 months of qualifying service Unitus contributes an additional fixed amount of 4% which vests on a graduated basis over five years. Based on Board approval, an annual discretionary employer contribution may be available as well for employees who have one year of qualifying service. Discretionary contributions are not guaranteed and have graduated vesting provisions.
Paid Time Off, Holidays & Disability Insurance
Most new employees accrue up to 15 days of Paid Time Off (PTO) during their first twelve months of employment and this increases by 5 days starting in year two. Unitus recognizes 11 paid holidays per year. Regular full time and part-time employees (working 20 hours or more per week) are eligible for Short Term Disability (STD) and Long Term Disability (LTD) insurance protections paid 100% by Unitus.
Unitus offers a bi-annual performance incentive plan based on the Credit Union’s and the employee’s performance levels achieved against goals. Awards are calculated on base pay earned during the incentive performance period.
Unitus offers tuition reimbursement to employees who have one year of continuous employment. Employees may be reimbursed 75% for tuition and books for work related classes and 50% for non-related classes that may be required for an approved degree program. Reimbursement is indexed to Portland State University’s tuition and IRS maximums apply.
Transit and Parking
The Unitus headquarters is well-situated for mass transit from all areas of the Portland and Vancouver metropolitan area. As such, Unitus will pay 100% of the cost of an employee’s mass transit monthly pass (Tri-Met, C-TRAN, Salem). In addition, employees may utilize a pre-tax Flex Spending Account for work related parking expenses.
Paid Volunteer Time
As part of our commitment to community involvement, we encourage employees to take advantage of volunteer opportunities at various community partners in the Portland metropolitan area. We focus our efforts towards working with organizations that positively shape financial education and health and human services. Our commitment to community exemplifies one of the principles that credit unions were founded upon – People Helping People.
