SEP IRA

If you’re self-employed, a SEP IRA may be your retirement option.

A variation of our IRA, called a Simplified Employee Pension (SEP) account, is a clever option for local businesses to support their employees. Whether you're self-employed and without employees, or are managing numerous employees, all employees receive the same benefits under a SEP plan. Because SEP accounts are treated as IRAs, funds can be invested the same way as an IRA. It’s easy for small businesses to set up and maintain.

A Unitus SEP IRA allows self-employed business owners to:

  • Make contributions with higher limits than an IRA
  • Get tax-deferred earnings until age 70½ when all withdrawals are subject to taxes
  • Make contributions that are tax–deductible
  • Lower your income tax liability in the current year
