Each year, we award multiple $1,000 scholarships to high school graduates, college undergraduate and graduate students who have been with Unitus for a year or longer. Applications received are based on financial need and academic achievement. We also award one scholarship to recognize outstanding community involvement.

College-Bound High School Graduates

        Lindsey Dennis
    Vancouver, WA
    Willamette University

    Lindsay is a high school senior at Columbia River High School. She plans on majoring in International Studies at Willamette University and wants to work as a Foreign Diplomat.

         
        Erin Doering
    Tualatin, OR
    Oregon State University

    Erin is a high school senior at Tualatin High School and plans to attend Oregon State University. She plans on majoring in Education with the hopes of becoming and elementary teacher.

         
        Caitlyn Cordrey
    Woodland, WA
    Washington State University

    Caitlyn is a high school senior at Woodland High School with a grade point average of 3.82. She plans to attend Washington State University where she will study Exercise Physiology and Metabolism.

         
        Victoria Teixeira
    Cave Creek, AZ
    Northern Arizona State

    Victoria is a high school senior at Cactus Shadows High School in Arizona with a grade point average of 3.79. She will be attending Northern Arizona University and plans on majoring in Psychology and Biology. Victoria has volunteered several hours with animal rescue organizations to help improve the lives of unwanted and abused pets. She plans to make a career out of educating owners and training pets in order to make them more manageable for their families.

        Josh Hyrkas
    Portland, OR
    Portland State University

    Josh is a freshman at Mt. Hood Community College. He plans on transferring to Portland State University in the fall of 2010 where he plans to study Business Management and minor in Community Development. Josh’s passion is in the non-profit sector I his application he wrote, “I want to help make the world a better place for all of us who live in it. I feel it’s important that one takes the initiative to help others. If I don’t do it, who will?”

         
        Amber Rudishauser
    Salem, OR
    Pioneer Pacific University

    Amber is a freshman at Pioneer Pacific College where she is currently working towards obtaining her associates degree in Paralegal and Business. She plans to further her education and get her bachelors in Business and then finally pursue law school so one day she can own and operate her own law firm.

         
        Jaslean Sandhu
    Bartlesville, OK
    Brown Mackie College

    Jaslean is a freshman at Brownie Mackie College in Tulsa, OK where she is studying Law/Paralegal and plans to attend law school once she has completed her under-grad studies. Jaslean continues to demonstrate success and hard work and refers to a list of personal goals that sits beside her bed. This list keeps her motivated and reminds her daily of how far she has come in reaching her goals!

         
        Annette Patton
    Corvallis, OR
    Whitman College

    Annette is a freshman at Whitman College with a grade point average of 3.87. She plans to study in a variety of areas including: Geology, German, Biology, and Anthropology. She plans to use the effort she has put into her education to make a positive impact on the world, whether it’s promoting environmental sustainability or practicing large-animal veterinary care.

    Sandy, OR
    Oregon State University

    Michelle is a freshman at Oregon State University with a grade point average of 3.73 and is majoring in Animal Sciences. Since second grade she has been actively involved in 4-H and has the great opportunity to shadow a skilled poultry veterinarian in California for a week during summer break!

         

Graduate

        Sarah Spear
    Portland, OR
    Lewis & Clark College

    Sarah earned her Bachelor of Arts degree at Portland State University in 2008. She is currently enrolled in the M.A.T. Early Childhood/Elementary Program at Lewis & Clark Graduate School of Education and Counseling. Sarah plans on working in an inner city school or low economic area school following graduate school where she will strive to provide her students with an exceptional learning experience.

         
        Natalie Schumacher
    Beaverton, OR
    Concordia University

    Natalie is in the Maters of Education program at Concordia University where she is working towards a leadership position at the school where she is currently teaching. She has volunteered for a large number of organizations including, a service trip to New Orleans, Louisiana to assist with Katrina clean up, and has participated at Hands in Service, which helps with the practical needs of people in the community.

         

Outstanding Community Involvement

        Nawwal Moustafa
    Durham, OR
    Western Oregon University

    Nawwal has demonstrated outstanding volunteerism and community service. She has logged an impressive 600 hours of volunteer hours which includes being a team captain for Relay for Life, creating and selling “Fighter” t-shirts to raise funds and awareness of child abuse through “Team Max”, volunteering on a weekly basis as a classroom volunteer, and much, much more! Nawwal is currently attending Western Oregon University where she is studying Psychology as well as Art and Film.
