When it comes to community partnerships, Unitus likes to think we have an unobstructed vision.
A large part of that vision includes working with organizations that positively shape education and health and human services. Some of the organizations we've partnered with throughout the years include:
We aren't above forming a line in a warehouse and packing hundreds of backpacks full of school supplies for children going to school in high poverty neighborhoods. In fact, we do it every year with the Tools for Schools program through Schoolhouse Supplies.
As for families who have fallen on hard times, each holiday season we partner with organizations like Snowcap and Helping Hands to collect barrel after barrel of canned foods, warm clothes and blankets to feed and clothe those who might otherwise go without.
It's important our members know that one of Unitus' core values is to give back to the communities we serve, both socially and economically.
But don't just take our word for it — see what our community partnerships have to say about working with Unitus!
| Q. | Why does Unitus get involved in the community? |
| A. | As a community credit union, it's not only part of our philosophy, but our responsibility to give back to the communities we serve. The credo "People Helping People" is an original declaration of credit unions nationwide—credit unions were founded to help people who could not get assistance from another financial institution. |
| Q. | How do you decide where Unitus will we be involved geographically? |
| A. | Unitus generally participates in the counties that make up our membership charter. However, some of our partners serve families from across the Northwest. |
| Q. | If I have an organization I think Unitus should be involved with, what should I do? |
| A. | Gather as much information about the organization as possible, along with a contact name for the organization, and send the request to events@unitusccu.com. Once we gather all of the information we need, we'll evaluate it based on our current guidelines, budget and resources. Please keep in mind that Unitus primarily supports organizations that provide financial education and vital services to individuals and families. |
| Q. | What happens if the organization is sponsored by other financial institutions? Will it affect how much Unitus would be willing to donate? |
| A. | No, Unitus will follow our usual guidelines, independent of what other financial institutions are involved. |
| Q. | If you decide to turn down an organization, is it possible that it will be re-evaluated in the future? |
| A. | If the event or organization was turned down due to budget constraints, but it met all of our community partnership guidelines, it's possible that it will be reevaluated in the next calendar year.
If the event failed to meet our guidelines the first time, it will not be considered again in the future unless our guidelines change. |
